December’s collection is focusing on the Tengu, whom we haven’t seen in a little while. Though we’ve been near the Demon Gate of Despair with the Sarugami, we can’t neglect the role of the Daitengu. The Zuijin have wide ranging battle skills, from swordsmen like Hikenbo and Kenseibo, gunners like Hokibo, and magic/ritual users like Daranibo. We even have artificial tools like the Daitengu Marionette, controlled by Kotenbo from our February 2022 collection of Daitengu Outlaws 👀

Calrais sculpted our fantastic bases and terrain this month, with concept art from Paul Ferret. We have two base and terrain packs in our Throwbacks also, fittingly one that goes with last month’s collection, and one that goes with this month! Alongside those, we have some Nemesis minions who make great smaller mobs for an encounter.

It’s been awhile since we visited the Kutugha Steppe, the arid grasslands and foothills where the Goksagu, Ariche, and Totapari roam. The Totapari goat-centaurs are allies of the Ariche reindeer folk, both sharing a nomadic lifestyle and a deep appreciation for nature and mother earth. Totapari are small and nimble, relying on their speed and numbers to overwhelm enemies while mages cast elemental spells. Outriders like Khotaryn, Dorchin, and Tashkai are essential for scouting, as wayfinders like Morukai, Totapari Mage, listen to the voices of the earth to determine their path. We’ve also introduced some tapir-based lifeforms, including the Gurak War Tapirs, and Duargen, Gurakhun Warrior. Some might question the battle-readiness of tapirs, but that would be a mistake…

Paul also had some fantastic concepts for the characters this month, which I have added into the teaser posts (scroll through our previous posts to see them). The throwback poll was incredibly close, as there were so many great options to choose from. But we settled on this grouping, which has several of our fan favorites (Dinovians, Hikiga, and Daitengu).

October is traditional a spooky month, and so we’re back to the area near the Demon Gate of Despair, traditionally held by the Sarugami simian folk. Living so close to the gate, most denizens become Zuijin, the elite warriors who hold back the demon forces who sometimes leak through the gate. Even if, like Tetsujin, the massive ogre-like showpiece for this month, they’re more pacifist than warrior. Or a greenhorn like Koga, for whom this is definitely his first rodeo. Not everyone can be as seasoned a veteran as Goken, whose battle skills are renowned. And sometimes the Zuijin just need some inspirational theme music from bards like Triple Threat, though their true talents lie in vicious mockery.

September’s collection features the denizens of Boondaburra, a distant continent far across the sea from the mainland. Seasoned mariners and experts at poisons and their antidotes, the Boondaburra platypus folk are the majority in this land. But they are joined by a number of other creatures who have integrated into their society, including the Bindagari frilled lizard folk, and the Ngamari dugong folk. On the fringes, in their treetop villages, live the Jirawin sugar gliders, who disdain touching the ground if they can help it.

Conflux Creatures has caught up to July 2025 with the stats, which I will try to load into the stats folder in September. I was previously reformatting everything into our own pages, but it’s become so backlogged that I may as well provide what we have in the meantime. It’s been scorching here at Cobra HQ, so maybe that’s why we started thinking about the deserts of Jebel Irhoud. High above the endless dunes, the floating cities of the Ahurazad Sphinxes (who call themselves the First-born), keep watch over the world. According to their histories, they are the first children of the true creator god, Anu. Capable of wielding immense power through their Riddle and Glyphic magics, they are more powerful than the gods of the world, but have chosen to withdraw from worldly matters. Their histories tell of the hubris of one of their kind, whose experiments with Riddle magic shattered the creator god and nearly wiped out reality. Now they dedicate their immortal lives to upholding the Laws which bind reality together, sending out their agents and creations to monitor, judge, and correct those who step too close to the line…
